DAY 3. - FOREST, FOREST, NOTHING ELSE BUT FOREST
There's a longest part of our journey ahead, which is 600 km to Bucharest. If we have an extra day, we would have split this into two days. Well we don't so we just drove the whole way to Bucharest where Raul Jula already awaited in the appartment we booked. With a little hungover we packed up the tents and everything and headed to Bucharest.
When you leave Timisoar there is a brand new highway leading to Bucharest which was kind of a relief. We stopped at the first gas station trying to kill of the hungover from yesterday with some snacks and then we're off to the road again. The plan is is to go via Transalpina which is the most famous road in Romania for people who love cars so we are leaving the highways off to the mountains and narrow roads.
The forest got deeper, road zigzagged through the hills and we were slowly getting up when sudently there was a big upland lake with awesome view. We took a well deserved brake to get some fresh mountain air and soak up the positive energy. I may be not loving cars enough to appreciate the shape of the road we were rolling on, however, the nature was simply magic! Nothing but deep forest all around.
This changed after a few kilomters and we began to see weird campers around the road. Until today I still don‘t know what these people were doing there. The whole sitaution was pretty fucked seeing all the people sitting by their half-broken tents made of bags, blankets and tarps. Carpets, all sorts of shit. So many fires too. What a scene. When you are rolling 200 miles deep into the dark forest with this situation unfolding around you...you can’t help but think what the worst potential outcome could be. Dark thoughts man.
After a couple more hours we finally got out the forest and back to civilization, heading towards Bucharest. The highway infrastructure in Romania isn’t the best...making a 600km journey take 10 hours. We arrived at midnight and met Raul at the AirBnb.
